C. Neal Ellis, MD FACS

C. Neal Ellis MD graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1984. He received his graduate training in General Surgery in Birmingham, AL and in Colorectal Surgery at Louisiana State University, Shreveport. He is board certified in General Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care and Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a Fellow and has held leadership positions in the American College of Surgeons where he was inducted into the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Gastroenterology as well as a member of numerous other professional societies. His research interests include hernia, genetics and colon and rectal diseases. He is the editor of 2 books and the author or co-author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and invited manuscripts. He had given over 200 presentations in both national and international academic settings on a variety of topics including hernia, pelvic floor diseases, anal fistulas, advanced minimally invasive surgery, and rural health care systems.
